Parallels Desktop for Mac

Run Windows and Linux side by side with OS X apps

Parallels Desktop for Mac is a top selling application for the Apple Mac Parallels Desktop for Macthat enables you to run Windows and Linux applications in OS X on the desktop. You don't need to partition and reformat the hard disk, it doesn't affect your regular OS X applications, and you can switch back and forth between Windows and OS X applications without needing to reboot.

It works by creating a virtual machine, which is basically a sophisticated and powerful PC emulator that enables you to run any operating system that works on a standard PC, including Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, and Vista, and various flavours of Linux.

Parallels Desktop for Mac is great for testing software or for running applications that are only available for other operating systems, such as Windows, and not for the Mac. Now you can have the best of both worlds - Mac and Windows.

Guest OS: Windows 3.1, 3.11, 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista Business, Ultimate, Enterprise, Home and Home Premium. Linux - SUSE, Red Hat, Debian, Fedora Core, Mandriva, Xandros. Other - FreeBSD, OS/2, eComStation, Solaris, MS-DOS, OpenBSD 3.8. (Operating systems are not supplied.)

  • Coherence: Run Windows applications just like they were regular Mac apps. Use Windows applications on the Mac desktop. Hide the Windows taskbar until you need it. Access the Start menu from the Dock. Drag and drop files between Windows and OS X.
  • SmartSelect: Open any file in either Windows or OS X. Set file associations so that files open in whatever Windows or OS X application you choose.
  • 3-D graphics: Support for DirectX and OpenGL in Windows enables you to run many 3-D games, including Half Life and Unreal Tournament. Use CAD programs like AutoCAD 2008.
  • Snapshots: Create snapshots of the virtual machine and then restore them to undo any changes that have been made. Got a problem? Just restore the snapshot. It's great for testing software.
  • Parallels Explorer: Explorer Windows files and folders directly from the Mac OS X desktop. Drag and drop files and folders between Windows and OS X.

System requirements: Mac OS® X Tiger 10.4 or higher running on an Intel® Mac, 512Mb RAM (1GB recommended), 70Mb hard disk space + space for the Windows or Linux OS you want to install.
